Assessment

Incision

The doctor makes small incisions on your arm depending on the location of the loose skin. The cuts allow them to insert the cannula to loosen fat cells or tissues. At NexGen, we intend to make small, unnoticeable incisions in the patient’s body so they are invisible after the procedure.

Loosening and Removing Fat Tissues

After making the incisions, the surgeon inserts a thin cannula in the patient’s body to loosen the fat and suction it through the cannula. In traditional liposuction, they will move the cannula back and forth to dislodge the fat cells. With tumescent liposuction, tumescent fluid will be injected into your fat tissues to loosen them and shrink the blood vessels.
The surgeon uses a small cannula to liquefy the fat tissues in ultrasound or laser-assisted liposuctions. The process is less invasive than traditional liposuction. The laser-assisted liposuction will also tighten the skin around the surgical area. Incisions are then closed with sutures. Your doctor may also perform liposculpture or arm lift to tone your arms just as you want.

Post-Surgery Care

After the arm liposuction procedure, you will experience swelling or bruising around the surgical area. Your doctor will recommend you wear a compression garment for some time to minimize swelling and manage discomfort. These side effects will fade within two weeks post-surgery. You will also have to rest your arms for 4 to 5 days.

Recovery

Most patients at NexGen usually return to work in a week after an arm liposuction procedure. However, resuming physical activities or full recovery may take 4 weeks. Which is better: arm lift or arm lipo?

Arm lift and arm lipo serve different purposes. If the skin around your upper arm needs tightening but doesn’t have elasticity, an arm lift will be the right choice for you to achieve the best contour. However, if your skin has enough elasticity, you can undergo arm liposuction. Remember, liposuction doesn’t remove fat from the arms.

Will arm lipo leave loose skin?

Arm liposuction doesn’t leave loose skin. Instead, it reduces the volume or bulk of your arms by loosening the excess fat cells and suctioning them out. Skin with enough elasticity typically bounces back to its place. However, skin with insufficient elasticity may not retract back, giving an uncontoured appearance.

How long does the skin tighten after lipo?

Swelling after liposuction usually fades away in two weeks, but the loose skin may remain around the treated areas. It’s normal, and the skin tightens on its own within the next two to three months.

How do you sleep after arm liposuction?
