When you visit our surgeons at NexGen, you will first go through a skin inspection. Our experts sit with you, ask your reasons for the procedure, and take pictures of your mole. In most cases, the doctors use a tool referred to as a dermoscopy to determine the outlook of the mole and curate the proper removal procedure for it.
Once inspecting your skin in detail, our surgeons give you general anesthesia. You may get a numbing cream on your skin or an injection at the surgical site. In some instances, you might get both, allowing you to have a painless treatment for your mole removal.

Surgical Excision

After cleaning and numbing the target area on your skin, the doctors perform an Excision with the help of a scalpel. This technique helps remove the mole from your skin, while getting rid of as many atypical cells as possible. Our surgeon places all their incisions professionally to allow less tension and pull and decreases the chances of damage to your scar tissues.

Mole Removal

The surgeons at NexGen use forceps to pull the mole away from your skin, which might cause bleeding. This is normal and, through pressure, can be stopped before stitching the area. By using fine suturing techniques, your surgeon will stitch the affected area and apply petroleum jelly before covering it with a bandage. They may also suggest you keep the area clean and moist for some days.
Once our surgeons successfully perform a mole removal procedure on your body and stitch all the scars, we send your mole to a lab for testing. In many cases, we use dissolvable stitches.

Post-Surgery Care

Make sure that you change your wound dressing as frequently as possible. Also, keep the area clean, moist, and properly covered. After the area has been adequately healed, our surgeons may suggest applying sunscreen to keep it safe from all types of exposure.

Recovery

It may take 2 to 3 weeks to heal from cosmetic mole removal. You might feel some soreness during this period; however, it won’t hinder you from performing your daily tasks.
