FACE PROCEDURE

Upper/Lower Eyelids (Blepharoplasty)

At NexGen, we know that the eyes are the most sensitive part of your face.

What is
Upper/Lower Eyelids (Blepharoplasty)?

Your eyes are the first thing someone notices on your face. But the excess skin in your upper and lower eyelids can give you a drooping or tired look. Blepharoplasty or eyelid surgery is the best solution for this issue. The procedure corrects puffy under-eye bags and removes excess fat or skin around the eyelids to give you a more alert, youthful, and energetic appearance.

At NexGen, we know that the eyes are the most sensitive part of your face. That’s why we have chosen the best surgeon for this procedure: Dr. Dan Yamini. He will be with you throughout your cosmetic transformation journey. Whether you need an upper eyelid, lower eyelid, or double eyelid procedure, consider it done in the safest way possible!

  • Tightens the loose skin around the eyes
  • Eliminates folds from the upper eyelid and highlights the natural contour of the eyes
  • Minimizes the excess fat from the eyelids

  • Gives a lifted appearance to the eyes

Upper/Lower Eyelids
Treatment Options

Upper Eyelid Surgery

The upper blepharoplasty targets the upper eyelid area to remove excess fat, skin, and muscle. Doing so makes the eyes appear heavy and saggy. During the procedure, the surgeon keeps the incision hidden in the natural upper eyelid folds. This way, the scar stays concealed after the procedure. The upper eyelid surgery ensures a more alert or youthful appearance to your face.

Lower Eyelid Surgery

The lower blepharoplasty procedure eliminates excess skin, fat, and muscles from the lower eyelids. It treats puffy eyes and wrinkles from the lower eye. The surgeon makes a small incision along the lower eyelash line or inside it if no excess skin is present there. The lower blepharoplasty gives your face a less tired appearance.

Double Eyelid Surgery

Double eyelid surgery, or Asian blepharoplasty, is a procedure in which the surgeon creates an upper eyelid crease to create an attractive eye contour. During the surgery, the surgeon removes tissue and transforms the monolid into a double eyelid with a visible crease. This surgery is commonly performed on Asians with invisible eye creases.

Who is a
Good Candidate?

Anyone with drooping eyes and excess skin or fat around their eyelids can undergo lower or upper eyelid surgery. You must be healthy, without underlying health issues, and shouldn’t be a smoker. An ideal candidate for blepharoplasty surgery is one who wants to:

  • Achieve a balanced facial harmony with alert and youthful eyes
  • Remove excess fat deposits around their eyelids
  • Have well-contoured eyes

Procedure Process
and Recovery

1

Assessment

Dr. Yamini performs an upper/lower eyelid surgery after a detailed assessment of the patient. It enables him to evaluate every individual’s health condition, learn about their aesthetic goals, and develop the right treatment plan. Our surgical procedures are highly customized, ensuring every person receives the best results. After the assessment, you will be administered with anesthesia.
2

Incisions

Since the eyes are the most sensitive part, the surgeon makes careful incisions during the procedure. Dr. Yamini makes the incision lines so the resultant scars remain concealed within the natural eyelid.

To correct the upper eyelid, the incision is made within the eyelid’s natural crease. In the case of the lower eyelid, the cut is made below the lower lash line. Some surgeons also opt for transconjunctival incision in the lower eyelid to correct the issue.

3

Removing Excess Skin and Fat

After making the incision, the surgeon removes the excess skin and fat from the upper eyelid. They may also reposition them and then tighten the muscles around this area. In the case of lower eyelid surgery, the excess skin is removed from the lower eyelid, and the fat deposits are repositioned or removed accordingly. Once done, the incisions are closed with skin glue or sutures.
4

Post-Surgery Care

During the eyelid surgery, your eyes are covered with cold compresses or lubricating medications. The doctor may also use gauze for coverage after completing the surgery. You will have to follow a post-surgery care plan to heal quicker. It includes keeping the head elevated, using a cool compress to alleviate swelling and bruising, and applying medications for healing. You shouldn’t wear contact lenses for 2 weeks post-surgery.

Bruising after the surgery is usually felt in the first week only. Some patients also experience irritation, discomfort, and dry eyes. Your doctor will recommend your medications accordingly, so stay in touch with them.

5

Recovery

The recovery usually varies from person to person but usually takes only a week. You can return to work in a week. However, the puffiness or bruising will take longer to alleviate. You may also visit your doctor within a week to remove the stitches. The discoloration and swelling usually subside with time.

FAQs

How many types of eyelid surgery are there?

There are primarily 3 types of eyelid surgeries: upper eyelid, lower eyelid, and double eyelid procedures. The upper eyelid procedure treats excess skin or fat from the upper eyelids to reduce puffiness. In the lower eyelid surgery, the doctor removes sagging skin or bags from your lower eyes. Some people opt for a double eyelid procedure to attain the perfect eye contour and crease.

Is eyelid surgery a major surgery?

An eyelid surgery is a major surgery like other eye procedures. The eyes are the most sensitive part of our body, so making incisions below, above, or inside its lash line is very risky in general. Always opt for an experienced surgeon like Dr. Yamini for your surgery.

What is a good age for blepharoplasty?

The best age for blepharoplasty is whenever you see the appearance of droopy eyelids. Wrinkles and folds usually appear after 30, but it’s safe to undergo the procedure after 18.

Does eyelid surgery leave a scar?

The blepharoplasty surgery includes minimal scarring as the incisions are very small. At NexGen, Dr. Yamini makes every incision carefully while keeping scarring minimal.
