Assessment

Belly button surgery or umbilicoplasty is usually performed under general anesthesia. At NexGen, Dr. Yamini first assesses every patient’s condition and sees whether they need medical help or a cosmetic change. He then asks about their expectations to develop the most suitable treatment plan. We aim to send you to the surgery with full confidence!

Incisions

After the consultation, the surgeon will make small incisions or one deep cut inside your belly button. It ensures that all the scars will remain concealed within the navel.

Removing Excess Skin

Depending on your aesthetic goals, the doctor will remove excess skin, fat, or tissues around the belly button to reshape or reposition it. They may also trim the edges around your navel to position it higher or lower than before. If there are any bulges or herniation, the doctor will also fix them during the procedure.
Your surgeon may also perform other surgeries with the umbilicoplasty, such as a mommy makeover, tummy tuck, liposuction, or abdominoplasty. Once done, they will close the incisions with sutures.

Post-Surgery Care

You will feel soreness, bruising, and swelling around your belly button a few days after the procedure. Your surgeon will give you a thorough post-surgery care plan. Following it will reduce all the pain and discomfort within 2 weeks. Ensure to sleep on your back for at least a week after the procedure, and avoid working out for 4 weeks.

Recovery

Your recovery period after the umbilicoplasty surgery will depend on how carefully you follow the post-surgery plan. You will be fully recovered within 2 to 4 weeks with proper care. Most NexGen patients return to work a few days after the procedure and continue light-to-moderate physical activities within a week or two.
