Breast Augmentation

Since tuberous breast repair includes implant placement, it’s somewhat similar to breast augmentation with implants. The surgeon uses PureGraft to collect fat from the other parts of the patient’s body and then process it to extract contaminated fluids. The purified fat is then transplanted back into the breasts.

The surgeon also uses tissue expanders to stretch the breast tissue and the skin to insert the implant. Without tissue expanders, breast augmentation can be performed in one session. The doctor may also opt for a breast fat grafting technique.

Assessment

Tuberous breast repair surgery requires a thorough physical assessment from an experienced surgeon. A tuberous breast repair doesn’t only involve placing implants to increase the size of the breasts. Instead, it includes additional specific techniques to treat many congenital issues in tubular breasts.

At NexGen, our board-certified surgeon, Dr. Yamini, sits with every patient individually to evaluate the condition of their breasts to develop the right treatment plan. You will be informed about your entire course of action beforehand, including all other required procedures.

Incisions

For minor tuberous breast cases, the doctor makes an incision around the patient’s nipple to evaluate the condition. They may also make small internal incisions to loosen the tight breast tissues and make space for implants. Doing so makes the lower area of the breast more round and improves the enlarged areola. Drains are not mandatory during the procedure.

Performing Other Surgeries

For those with moderate or severe tuberous breasts, the surgeon may combine many other breast surgeries to achieve the desired results. It can be mastopexy, breast augmentation, liposuction, nipple reduction, or similar procedures.

Post-Surgery Care

After the procedure, your surgeon will ask you to limit your arm and upper body movements, especially extensive exercises like intense sports and heavy weight lifting. However, gentle activities will help during the recovery. You will also be prevented from sexual and aerobic exercises for 2 weeks.

Your surgeon will recommend a supportive surgical bra to speed up your recovery. If the doctor used drain tubes during the procedure, you would have to visit the clinic after a week or so to get them removed.

Recovery

The recovery period for tuberous breast repair surgery varies depending on the procedures performed. Most patients who undergo this surgery return to work within a week with proper care. You may also feel mild to moderate pain for up to 3 days.

Mild swelling is also common during recovery, but you should have no bruising. If you suspect any unusual bruising, severe pain, or drainage, consult your surgeon immediately for an instant evaluation. Your breasts will take about 3 to 6 months to settle and appear natural.
