Assessment

Incisions

Skin Removal

The incision will allow the surgeon to access the skin and tissues between your nose and lips. They remove a small piece of skin from this region to minimize the distance and then put sutures to create that lifted appearance.

Post-Surgery Care

You won’t feel intense pain or swelling during or after the lip lift procedure, but slight discomfort will occur at the surgical site. Your doctor will give you the best painkillers and topical medications to apply for a shorter recovery.
The post-surgery care for most lip lift patients consists of 24 hours of rest after the surgery and no strenuous exercises. You should also avoid smoking and sleeping on your nose or face. Use a small toothbrush, and don’t open your mouth too wide. You’d also have to moisturize your lips frequently and stay in touch with your doctor.

Recovery

The recovery time for lip lifts varies depending on the type of surgery you underwent. The typical duration lies between one to four weeks. You can return to work and light activities in a week. You might have to wait for several weeks for strenuous exercises, depending on your comfort level. Remember, the results of lip lifts aren’t visible instantly. Instead, they become visible about six months after the scars start healing.
